rar Explained
RAR is a proprietary archive file format that supports data compression, error recovery and file spanning. It was developed by a Russian software engineer, Eugene Roshal (the name RAR stands for Roshal ARchive) and the software is currently licensed by win.rar GmbH.
It is now commonly used to split large files into smaller parts which can be uploaded or saved to media smaller that the original file size. It can also join these parts back into a complete file again.
